Community Partners: Better Together
The Falmouth Service Center works with civic and nonprofit partners to build a vibrant, equitable community; one that empowers families and individuals and provides access to the resources and services that support healthy, independent living. In each newsletter, we will highlight a few of our community partners.
Falmouth Senior Services Department
The Falmouth Service Center and Falmouth Senior Services Department collaborate to promote healthy aging and quality of life by improving access to healthy foods, financial assistance programs and other wrap around services. With more than 32% of Falmouth residents over the age of 65, the ongoing coordination of services is more important than ever.
The Coalition for Children
The Falmouth Service Center is happy to promote The Coalition for Children with monthly meet-and-greet opportunities. The Coalition works to build strong foundations for families in the Falmouth and Mashpee communities. They offer free education and support programs to families with young children and bring fun and games when they are here during food distribution.
Barnstable County Department of Health & Environment and Cape Cod Cooperative Extension Support Foods to Encourage
Barnstable County Department of Health & Environment and Cape Cod Cooperative Extension coordinate with Falmouth Service Center volunteers to support our Foods to Encourage, a healthy-pantry program. Twice a month, food pantry clients are encouraged to visit with a nurse to measure health indicators, such as blood pressure and blood glucose. Registered Dieticians or Nutrition Educators are available to provide nutrition education and meal planning advice. More than 50 clients have participated in the program.
Barnstable County Volunteers
Volunteer nurses from Barnstable County test a client’s glucose level during our Foods to Encourage Program.
