Client Corner
For more than 35 years, "The Falmouth Service Center (FSC) has worked to increase self-sufficiency by helping to build networks among clients, neighbors and agencies." By providing groceries in our food pantry; supporting those needing help in applying for Fuel Assistance or SNAP benefits; providing emergency financial assistance during a time of crisis; offering mobile markets in the Falmouth Public Schools and at Joint Base Cape Cod; providing groceries to homebound seniors through our Home Delivery program; and partnering with many other agencies across the Cape to make referrals in support of neighbors in need, our clients can access a range of services and resources that benefit their households.
In this spring edition of our newsletter, we share the story of one such client, Rhiannon Finton, who was referred to FSC. She did her own research into our services and follows the Falmouth Service Center's Facebook page which gives her more information about FSC's many programs. Her story has warmed our hearts.
How was FSC able to help you?
When I started nursing school at Cape Cod Community College 2 years ago, my biggest fear was, “How am I going to be able to get through this and support myself financially?” FSC helped me with my rent twice when I was in a pinch, provided food to me when I was low on food, set me up with monthly food assistance through the state, and provided financial classes to assist with budgeting.
What would you tell others about your experience with FSC?
I have had such a great experience with FSC these past two years and will forever be thankful for the assistance they provided to me so I could work through the nursing program at Cape Cod Community College with a little less stress. The volunteers are so kind and generous. The employees are very willing to help and make a difference in people’s lives. My experience at every encounter has always been pleasant. I will always be grateful for their services provided to me during this temporary tough time.
