Community Partners in Action

We could not do this vital work without our many partners in the community helping us each and every day. Throughout Falmouth and all of Cape Cod, we have individuals, families, businesses, faith communities and various other organizations who work collectively with us to help our neighbors in need. Our community partners allow us to broaden our support base and enable us to build networks among clients, neighbors and agencies. We are so grateful for their unique and varied contributions!

Soup-er Bowl Sunday (January 31, 2016)

Step in from the cold, come for a delicious meal of hearty soup and fresh bread, and prepare a week in advance for that "other" Super Bowl while supporting the Falmouth Service Center. A Soup-er Bowl Sunday Lunch will take place on Sunday, January 31st from 12:00 - 1:30 P.M. at the Falmouth Jewish Congregation, 7 Hatchville Road. A suggested donation of $5-$10 will get you homemade, hot soup (meat, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free varieties will be available) and fresh bread with all proceeds going to the Falmouth Service Center. This benefit, hosted by the Falmouth Jewish Congregation and the Waquoit Congregational Church, aims to bring the community together, serve a healthy and hearty lunch, and raise awareness of the ongoing hunger problems in our community and in the world. Attendees are asked to bring a bowl from home to make this event "green". A small number of artisan bowls, created by local artists, will be raffled off during the luncheon. Bring your friends and make new acquaintances. The Falmouth Jewish Congregation is accessible to those with disabilities.

All are welcome at this public benefit. For further information contact the Falmouth Jewish Congregation at www.falmouthjewish.org, 508-540-0602 or the Waquoit Congregational Church at http://waquoitucc.org , 508-548-5269.

Bob Murray Housing With Love Walk

July 13 - July 19, 2015

This week launches the 23rd annual Housing With Love Walk.  This Walk brings together people from all over Cape Cod as they come together to walk from Provincetown to Falmouth.  The Walk was renamed in 2012 to the Bob Murray Housing With Love Walk to recognize the 20 years of service Bob had given to help families find decent, safe, and affordable housing.  This Walk works because it is founded in Love, its member agencies are Committed to the Mission, and the Collaboration is strengthened each year by walking together.  The agencies that benefit from the Walk are:  Chatham Ecumenical Council for the Homeless (CECH), Community Development Partnership (CDP), Falmouth Homeless Prevention Program (FHPP), Friends of Prisoners/Guindon House, Harwich Ecumenical Council For the Homeless (HECH), Homeless Not Hopeless, Inc. (HnH), Housing Assistance Corporation (HAC), Homeless Prevention Council (HPC), and the St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVDP). The walk was recently featured on WCAI, the Cape and Islands NPR station. Click here to read more about it and hear the program.

Each agency relies heavily on the proceeds from this Walk.  The work they do depends, in large part, on the generosity of individuals like you. We ask for and need your support. To download the walk brochure and support the agencies, click here.

Here at the Falmouth Service Center, we will have walkers on both Saturday & Sunday.  If you would like to support their efforts, you can sponsor them by mailing a check made out to "Falmouth Homeless Prevention Program", and send it to Brenda Swain/Kerin Delaney, Falmouth Service Center, P.O. Box 208, Falmouth, MA 02541.  If you want to walk with us, please join us on Saturday, July 18th or on Sunday, July 19th. Click here for the itinerary & places to join up with the walkers in Falmouth. Thank you!!

School Partnerships

Chase The Turkey Race

This annual Thanksgiving Day Race is organized by Falmouth Academy and the proceeds benefit Falmouth Service Center. This is a 4.2. mile race through Beebe Woods in Falmouth on Thanksgiving morning.  Thank you to everyone who participated this year - we are thrilled with how many came to run before their big dinners!  The FSC van was filled with bags and bags of donated food and just over $2,000 was raised for the Falmouth Service Center. More than 180 people ran or walked the 4.2 mile course. The full list of results can be found on the Falmouth Academy website.

Faith Communities

The Falmouth Service Center is fortunate to partner continually with the many faith organizations in Falmouth.  Many times during the year they hold food drives for us which help us to stock our shelves and bring variety to our pantry.  They also have found other unique ways in which to partner with us.  At times, we will feature different Falmouth faith organizations in this space and what they are doing to help the Falmouth Service Center.

Falmouth Farmer's Market

We received an astounding 3,492 pounds of produce from the generous vendors of the Falmouth Farmer's Market last summer. We are so grateful to the vendors and market organizers who made all of that possible! Our clients loved the beautiful produce and the incredible variety!

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI)

A picture of the stunning houses that Sue Clancy, and her mom, Ruth, have decorated for the raffle at the WHOI Christmas party to raise money for the Service Center. Wow!

Gingerbread Houses

Boy Scouts

Many Falmouth Scout groups do monthly food drives for us and have even made a new sign promoting the food drives. Thank you to Acme Precast Co. for providing the materials to make the frames for the sign and to the Scouts for building the frames and running the food drives!  We are grateful to the many Scouts who are willing to stand outside of the area supermarkets handing out our Healthy Food Lists and asking for donations on our behalf.  They always bring in several dozen crates of food that go right out onto our shelves and help bring variety to our offerings.

Want to become a partner?

If you are a local organization interested in partnering with the Falmouth Service Center, please call us at 508-548-2794 or email us.
